Blackfold - A Black Metal Podcast

Welcome to Blackfold, my name is Danny van Eijk.  Some years ago I become intrigued with Black Metal. Sure, I had been interested in the scene for decades but the music never really did it for me. I was more intrigued by the mythology, the villainous characters who are a part of the scene, the constant pushing of boundaries and the many actual crimes; the arsons, kidnappings, torture and even murders. Yet, it took a personal tragedy for me to get into the music itself. And so much so that I decided to start this podcast. We wanted to make a podcast for people with a true interest in the music, but also one that is listenable and informative for those who only have a passing interest in the sounds of the scene but want to learn more about the people behind it all the same.

During this first season of the Blackfold podcast we will dive into a diverse range of topics among them we look at the life and Death of Dead, lead singer and major inspiration to the entire scene. We look at the role satanism plays in the scene and what medieval black metal sounds like. We will take a deep dive into Varg Vikernes’ time in prison as well as his jailbreak and we will talk about the French Black metal scene’s rich history and much, much more. It is part music, part biography, part deep dive and part true crime ....but... it is all metal.
